Orkhan Garayev Elvella, a Baku-based artist, has a diverse portfolio that encompasses graphic art, sculpture, illustration, and painting. He has had numerous exhibits in Azerbaijan, Germany, France, Russia, and Turkey. His work is housed in individual collections in Turkey, Georgia, France, and the United Arab Emirates. Orkhan's art was acknowledged in 2018 when he was awarded third place at the Semeni International Art Exhibition held at Baku's Heydar Aliyev Center. Orkhan's triptych 'Cal,' 'Reincarnation,' and 'Changing Reality' was a mixed-media project that used vintage black-and-white photographs of Azerbaijan, which the artist reimagined in bright paintings in his modern style. Orkhan's current project includes a new digital composition that allows viewers to fully integrate themselves in the 3D labyrinth of his artwork, which was shown in the ARTIM exhibition 'Full Emptiness' of virtual reality art in September 2018.
Orkhan's paintings are well-known for their intricate and dramatic compositions that depict social and spiritual concerns. He is continually producing new artwork that expands on his existing approach in order to better develop his own style, which mimics surrealism and cubist composition while being rendered with a postmodern perspective. His artwork is contemplative and engaging because many of his paintings incorporate animals and floral motifs that are suggestive of inner discovery. His artworks are layered with swirls of color and patterns through which more figurative imagery arise, and he plays with scale and depth in his pieces, demonstrating the influence of graphic art. In 2016, he took part in an experimental 'Art Dialogue' event in which he made a canvas in real-time in response to a live cast of Sabina Velibekova's poems set to music composed by Ramin Guliyev.
