Zamir attempted to display his works in Baku in 2009, examining urban environments as a representation and display of social and cultural values from his perspective. Zamir's imagery incorporates documentary-style aesthetics, but he overlays in textured narratives that suggest the concealed stories that reside just outside the border of his images and videos through his use of frame, theme, and color.
His view emphasizes how time is not synonymous with development, with his subjects' stagnant predicament evident in the same terrain in which they seem stuck. His black-and-white images depict the several local marketplaces surrounding Baku that bear the label 'Real Market,' raising questions about the nature of reality and human individuality. Whereas his work is intensely engrossing, it also draws parallels between the old days and nowadays, as well as ruefully criticizes modern culture and social trends, such as his utilization of local jargon and cultural meaning in his work 'Heavy Words' (2017), in which sociologically phrases were made from large stones layered in the rear of building trucks and influenced through Baku's various urban spaces. This piece was the focus of Zamir's 'ALL AND' individual exhibit of photography, sculpture, and video art at Yay Gallery in 2017, which extended his research of Baku's urban dialect.
