Turkan has been employed as a photographer, director's assistant, and film director on a variety of films and documentaries over the years. One of her successful movies is “Papanin” which was shot in 2021. It is about: Many years ago, the Papanin area in Baku, Azerbaijan, was planned to be razed. While its residents wait with hope for the district's removal and compensation, life in the neighborhood moves at its own, slow speed. The black-and-white movie presents private microstories about the loss of illusions, the delights of daily life, and love-and-death encounters against the backdrop of deserted streets. The pieces of the people’s lives combine to create a mosaic portrait of a place that will soon vanish from the Earth.
